I'm 18 years old and this is my second semester at GCC. I work at Banner Thunderbird Hospital part-time. I graduated from Centennial High School, I was active in the marching band and a member of the german club. In high school i took German I-V, I feel like I can understand German more that I can speak it. I love German, but I don't know what I want to major in yet. Im deciding between education and nursing.
Above is my best friend and boyfriend Ryan, we've been together for over a year. I have two sisters, Sara and Kate, they drive me nuts on a daily basis.
My friends call me an old lady in an 18 year olds body. I love to knit and do other crafts. I go to the beauty salon on a regular basis and I watch the Price is Right every morning. I see nothing wrong with it. Currently I'm attempting to knit a pair of mittens :).
When it comes to languages, I have some experiences with different types of languages. Like I said above, I studied German in high school.Dance is my main hobby, I've been dancing since I was in elementary school. In dance a lot of French words are used to name moves. I also studied music in high school which is a whole new language to learn. I am taking this class for the experience and the knowledge. I'm looking forward to learn.
Hi Leah. It's Bianca. I have already talked to you in person, but I learned a bit more about you in your blog. That is awesome that you have been dancing since elementary. I am sure you have some good videos. Congrats on being in college so soon after graduation..that's the way to go if you can. Talk to you in class.
ReplyDeleteHi Leah! I love that you consider music a language! I couldn't agree more! I have watched some documentaries on the affects of music in the brain and I think it's just fascinating! Do you play instruments as well, or is your body your instrument through dance? Nice entry with cute pictures! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI know how to play the drums and clarinet a little bit, but I mainly just dance. I was on drum line my freshman year then switched over to flag line for the last three years.
DeleteI am curious why you would choose to study German, is there some one in your family who speaks it? Or perhaps an ancestor? Do you plan on going there someday?
ReplyDeleteI have an Aunt who lives in Germany, she loves to talk to my on the phone or over Skype in German. But like I said above, I can understand it better than I can speak it. I've been trying to make my way across seas to visit but it just cost so much! I'm a poor college student :(
DeleteI think it's super cool that you can knit, doing crafting things like that is so fun! I hope your mittens turn out well. Also, it's cool that from music and dance you've learned bits of another language!
ReplyDeleteHi Leah, this is Alex from your class. That is neat you work at Thunderbird Hospital. What kind of work do you do there? I found it humorous that you are called an old woman. My friends call me the old man because I am such a slow driver and I have more interest with what was in the past than what's going on now.
ReplyDeleteI've been dancing ballet since I was 2, and I was super active in the marching band when I was in High School 100 years ago. My family speaks German, but I know very little. But it's fun to find things in common!
ReplyDeleteHey Leah! I am the girl that sits right behind you to the right in class! First of all, you and your boyfriend are so cute together. Secondly, I think it is so funny how we went to the same high school for 3 years together and didn't even know it!! Finally, I just think this is such a wonderful profile and I enjoyed reading about your interests. Speak something in German for me in class tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHi Leah! I have a friend that works at Banner Thunderbird and is currently going through the Nursing program here at GCC. If you do decide to go in that direction you already have a great opportunity, since you already work in the medical field. I will tell you that GCC is one of the better Nursing programs in MCCD. I also find that you knit to be an interesting choice in hobbies and I think it is great. I hope you do well this semester, good luck!
